Join us in February 2021 for our 'Art in a Global Curriculum' Virtual CPD Programme
We're very excited to kick off our 'Art in a Global Curriculum' programme next month. The virtual 3-session programme is led by Emma Bairstow, an experienced consultant for art primary education and director of Artworks Education Ltd.
The sessions are designed to explore how to break down art planning using a sequence of lessons that build on skills step by step that lead to a high quality final outcome. The sessions will provide support for your planning and share art ideas based on global curriculum themes. There will also be chance for delegates to build on their own artistic skills and develop confidence in teaching and modelling these skills in the classroom. Emma will share sketchbook examples and ideas and how sketchbooks can be used as a tool to record progression.
Although virtual these will still be partly hands-on sessions; participants will learn specific techniques through short practical activities which will be themed linked to learning around global curriculum themes including; sustainable development, social justice, peace and conflict, and identity and diversity. Time will also be dedicated to exploring artists whose work links to these themes.
All session are suitable for teachers, support staff and subject leaders looking to develop subject knowledge, art and design techniques, lesson planning and whole schools approaches to art within the curriculum.
Each session will look at one practical element but also look planning, sketchbooks based on the global themes in each session:
